Defeat Howard (272)
In Australia, election campaigns are contested by political parties with each political party individually aiming to maximize its support. In the forthcoming federal election the three non-Conservative parties Labor, the Greens and the Democrats will each attempt to improve its position and will operate largely independently of each other. It is our belief however that particular attention in this campaign needs to be given to the appalling policies of the Howard Government in the human rights arena. Examples of these appalling policies have been extracted from DARK VICTORY by David Marr and Marian Wilkinson.

The Justice Project (270)
The Justice Project is running an Australia wide campaign in support of refugee policy reform in the lead up to the 2004 Federal Election. We want every voter to know where candidates, in his or her electorate and in the Senate, stand on refugee policy reform. Our primary vehicle for doing this is a questionnaire for candidates to assess their views on refugees and asylum seekers, and we are also assessing the policies of each political party. We will issue Ranking Cards in the fortnight before the election and campaign to encourage people to vote for the candidates and parties most supportive of refugees and asylum seekers. This is a grass roots campaign and is driven by volunteers in each electorate.
